Thanks to R-Ladies Taipei for giving me the chance to tidy up the past two years, and amazingly, people were even willing to listen 😂
Last month I was invited to National Taipei University’s Department of Statistics to give a talk called “From Side Project to Business: Building AILogora and Vibe Coding in Practice.” Honestly, putting the slides together felt like running a retrospective on myself all over again.
From first seeing the pain point of fragmented AI knowledge, to quickly building the first prototype with vibe coding, to facing the huge gap between “writing code” and “running a business,” every part of it was a real pothole I’d stepped in. Telling the story again actually made it clearer to me.
The most unexpected part was the connections in the room.
I met several professors from NTPU’s statistics department, and for a moment I was back in my days studying statistics. Very nostalgic. I also ran into Professor Su Nan-cheng, who used to teach at National Cheng Kung University, and we started catching up XDD. A lot of my old classmates came from NCKU, and I never expected that to come up here, haha.
What struck me most from going back over all this is that after nearly two years and a long detour, my background in statistics helps with building AI products far more than I expected back then. The ways of thinking I learned in those years are still things I use every day.
Many thanks to R-Ladies Taipei for the invitation and to Ben for organizing, and to NTPU’s statistics department for the venue. It gave me a chance to take stock of myself, and if you’d also like to look back over your own past few years, I recommend signing up to give a talk. Please support R-Ladies Taipei 🙌
